Trader Joe's Mistletoe ready for the Christmas holiday

Trader Joe’s Mistletoe

Old-Fashion Mistletoe Bunched with a Red Bow, Perfect for Gift Giving Trader Joe’s is offering again this year their old-fashion cardboard boxes of mistletoe, bunched with a small red bow. My local store had this item last year and it appeared to be a great hit. I seem to remember that it sold out pretty early in the season. This year my local store appears to have a large inventory of the mistletoe, but who knows how fast it may sell? I will have to check later this week. It is marketed as being “real” mistletoe, and that it is. You may want to note though that I would call it “processed” since it has had its color enhanced to a pretty shade of green by the use of some sort of paint. As you can see above that the mistletoe seems to be one of the more common varieties you see, which from my understanding there are many to choose from. A note is that the mistletoe does come with a nice red ribbon, which makes it even more festive. The ribbon also adds some nice color against the green of the mistletoe. I’m not sure if this would be a suitable option for a lapel if you ever thought of that idea. Too big, and perhaps messy. However, Trader Joe’s mistletoe would look great hanging over a doorway. Once you hang it, the tradition is that you find your sweetie, or someone you care about it, and catch them under the mistletoe. The plan then is that you might kiss under the mistletoe. I would suggest asking the prospective kissee (?) first, especially these days. You don’t want to have a cold reception, or worse. At my local Trader Joe’s the mistletoe was priced very affordably. It would

My July 4th Meal

Grilling Out for the Fourth On the 4th of July, most of us are off of work. I know some of us still have to go in, and some of us take the day to catch up on tasks around the house, but some of us actually are lucky enough to not have to work. Well, in my case it was only half a day, but that is better than none. My mother celebrates her Birthday on the Fourth of July, so usually we try to do something nice for her. My Father has not been as mobile as he once was these past months, so as a favor to her, and to him, we decided to just celebrate her Birthday by grilling out at their home. Now, I know what you are probably thinking, it’s not much of a Birthday for my Mom when she has to cook. She said this year, she would not have had it any other way. You can’t argue with Mom! We had a pretty hot day, so eating outside was not on the agenda, but otherwise the day was nice. Perfectly dry and sunny for grilling. My Father is a big fan of rib eye steaks, as am I, so that is what my Mother prepared. She has a marinade she makes of garlic, worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, so they are always extra flavorful. Along with the steaks, we had potatoes with onions made on the grill, corn, and of course as no grill out would ever be complete without, baked beans. Our holiday was spent chatting while the steaks were cooking, then a leisurely dining scene inside enjoying one another’s company, and celebrating Mom’s big day, and the birth of our nation. A reminder that the links on this page may

Tips to Avoid Overeating and Weight Gain

Enjoying the Party While Sticking to Your Diet This video offers tips on how to avoid overeating at parties, especially holiday parties, and the weight gain that comes with it. With the holidays being just around the corner, I thought this would be useful to publish. Plus for me it’s always good to be reminded. I found the video pretty helpful, because even though some of the tips already knew, there were others that I found were good to be reminded of again. One of the suggestions that I found a be really beneficial, was the idea that you plan to eat before you go to the party, so you won’t be tempted by the various sweets, and other items that are usually being served. I know myself if I don’t eat light, or not all before going to party, there’s a chance I will overindulged. If you are trying to avoid overeating, these tips are great ways to start! Remember drinking, does add a lot of calories too, so carry a bottle of water with you or pick one up on the way to the party. That way you’ll have something refreshing in your hand, and most people won’t ask about since it is so commonplace things days. Plus, it will help you from over indulging on adult beverages. Take a look at the video, and if you know of other suggestions post them in the comment section below! A reminder, some of the links above may be Amazon Affiliate links, and I do make a small fee if you purchase something using them. However, you don’t pay more, but the fee does help me pay for the site. Thanks in advance for your purchase, and for bookmarking the link, and buying often!  Video courtesy of Sixpack Shortcuts
