Getting silver hair, and I don’t care!

For a long time I have thought that though I still have my hair, that going silver hair color is a really big deal. Now I realize that being just another one of those men with silver hair is not a big deal at all.
No, as I said, I am certainly one of the lucky ones because I still have my hair, and it grows quickly. Yet, though not ashamed, I don’t truly embrace having silver hair as a man in his 50’s.
When you watch TV at night, just like I did last night, you will often see commercials for more mature men’s hair-care products.

Products such as Grecian Formula and other brands making it sound like if you are silver or gray as a man, you look, and should feel old.
You aren’t aging well. You aren’t sexy.
Well, truth be told, I have NEVER thought of myself that way, so that isn’t an issue. My not thinking that I am sexy anymore.
How having silver, or gray hair makes you old-looking?!
Well, over the past few days, I have made a decision. I am not old, I have silver hair, and I am going to embrace it! It’s just that simple.
For years, I have kept my hair very short, having my barber or stylist mostly use clippers on it. Thinking that it was cooler, well in temperature to wear it that way.
I have kept it short thinking it was easier to manage, well it really is.
Deep down, I know I kept my hair short because I didn’t want to look old. Well, I have made a decision that changes that mindset today.
As you know styles are changing for men’s hair.
We have returned to the days of long hair on both young men, as well as guys our age, guys in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and up.
Well, I am going to be in style moving forward. I am going to let my hair grow out, I am going to wear it long, and it will be silver!
I don’t make this decision lightly, and I know it will be a challenge for me. It has been years, maybe decades since I’ve worn it of any length, but I am ready.
So, what do you think, am I overreacting?
Maybe you think that it’s foolish for a guy with some hair growth to even consider keeping his hair short, because of the color?
Maybe you think “shoot, at least you have hair”?
Let me know what you think, should I be fretting about the color of my hair, even when at least I can say that I still have a full head of hair?
Maybe you have dealt with this hair issue yourself, how did you handle it? What did you change, or not change?
Post your comments below, I would love to know what you think?
